PONDERING ON THE MIRACLES OF GOD SUNDAY OUTLINE  (BRO. EMMA OKORIE)      18TH JUNE, 2023

TOPIC: PONDERING ON THE MIRACLES OF GOD

This was exactly what David was meditating when he wrote Ps 39:3(KJV)3 My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue.

When you meditate on God’s miracles and consumed by it, it  will be like a fire shut up in your bones.  You can’t afford to quench it. Jer 20:9(NIV)But if I say, “I will not mention him or speak any more in his name, “his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot.

Have you taken time to meditate, brood and incubate God’s miracles?

Divers kinds of miracle were associated with men of God in the Bible.

Most times when we think of miracles, we only think about the miracles of Jesus, but God and His son have given us power to perform miracles

Jesus performed so many miracles that cannot be contained in a book – John 21:25(NIV) Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.

Virtually, the world is full of miracles.  Whatever you want miracle for, you can have.

kinds of miracles;

SPECTACULAR MIRACLES

Feeding of the five thousandMatt 14:15-21(NIV)

Walking on the water Matt 14:24-30 (NLT)

Raising of Lazarus John 11:43-44 (NLT)

The last and not the least. The resurrection of the dead  – Matt 27:51-54(NLT)51 At that moment the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. The earth shook, rocks split apart, 52 and tombs opened. The bodies of many godly men and women who had died were raised from the dead. 53 They left the cemetery after Jesus’ resurrection, went into the holy city of Jerusalem, and appeared to many people.54 The Roman officer and the other soldiers at the crucifixion were terrified by the earthquake and all that had happened. They said, “This man truly was the Son of God!”

UNCOMMON MIRACLES:

The donkey spoke to the rider –  Num 22:28-31(NLT)28 Then the Lord gave the donkey the ability to speak. “What have I done to you that deserves your beating me three times?” it asked Balaam.29 “You have made me look like a fool!” Balaam shouted. “If I had a sword with me, I would kill you!”30 “But I am the same donkey you have ridden all your life,” the donkey answered. “Have I ever done anything like this before?””No,” Balaam admitted.31 Then the Lord opened Balaam’s eyes, and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the roadway with a drawn sword in his hand. Balaam bowed his head and fell face down on the ground before him.

The never ending flour  and oil – 1 Kings 17:13-16(NLT)13 But Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid! Go ahead and do just what you’ve said, but make a little bread for me first. Then use what’s left to prepare a meal for yourself and your son. 14 For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: There will always be flour and olive oil left in your containers until the time when the Lord sends rain and the crops grow again!”15 So she did as Elijah said, and she and Elijah and her son continued to eat for many days. 16 There was always enough flour and olive oil left in the containers, just as the Lord had promised through Elijah.

The parting of the red sea – Ex 14:21-22(NLT)21 Then Moses raised his hand over the sea, and the Lord opened up a path through the water with a strong east wind. The wind blew all that night, turning the seabed into dry land. 22 So the people of Israel walked through the middle of the sea on dry ground, with walls of water on each side!

UNUSUAL MIRACLES:

Acts 19:11-12(NLT)11 God gave Paul the power to perform unusual miracles. 12 When handkerchiefs or aprons that had merely touched his skin were placed on sick people, they were healed of their diseases, and evil spirits were expelled.

When looking at the bronze metal healed snake bite – Num 21:7-9(TLB)7 Then the people came to Moses and cried out, “We have sinned, for we have spoken against Jehovah and against you. Pray to him to take away the snakes.” So Moses prayed for the people. 8 Then the Lord told him, “Make a bronze replica of one of these snakes and attach it to the top of a pole; anyone who is bitten shall live if he simply looks at it!” 9 So Moses made the replica, and whenever anyone who had been bitten looked at the bronze snake, he recovered!

AWESOME MIRACLES:

Elijah outruns a chariot for at least 15 miles – 1 Kings 18:44-46(TLB)44 Finally, the seventh time, his servant told him, “I saw a little cloud about the size of a man’s hand rising from the sea.”Then Elijah shouted, “Hurry to Ahab and tell him to get into his chariot and get down the mountain, or he’ll be stopped by the rain!” 45 And sure enough, the sky was soon black with clouds, and a heavy wind brought a terrific rainstorm. Ahab left hastily for Jezreel, 46 and the Lord gave special strength to Elijah so that he was able to run ahead of Ahab’s chariot to the entrance of the city!

Philip was translated for the purpose of God’s mission – Acts 8:36-40(NLT)36 As they rode along, they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “Look! There’s some water! Why can’t I be baptized?” 38 He ordered the carriage to stop, and they went down into the water, and Philip baptized him.39 When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away. The eunuch never saw him again but went on his way rejoicing. 40 Meanwhile, Philip found himself farther north at the town of Azotus. He preached the Good News there and in every town along the way until he came to Caesarea.

Peter and John bypassed the locked door and came to the temple and preached – Acts 5:17-25(NLT)17 The high priest and his officials, who were Sadducees, were filled with jealousy. 18 They arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail. 19 But an angel of the Lord came at night, opened the gates of the jail, and brought them out. Then he told them, 20 “Go to the Temple and give the people this message of life!”21 So at daybreak the apostles entered the Temple, as they were told, and immediately began teaching. When the high priest and his officials arrived, they convened the high council—the full assembly of the elders of Israel. Then they sent for the apostles to be brought from the jail for trial. 22 But when the Temple guards went to the jail, the men were gone. So they returned to the council and reported, 23 “The jail was securely locked, with the guards standing outside, but when we opened the gates, no one was there!”24 When the captain of the Temple guard and the leading priests heard this, they were perplexed, wondering where it would all end. 25 Then someone arrived with startling news: “The men you put in jail are standing in the Temple, teaching the people!”

The earth stopped spinning so that Israelites can keep warring – Josh 10:12-15(TLB)12 As the men of Israel were pursuing and harassing the foe, Joshua prayed aloud, “Let the sun stand still over Gibeon, and let the moon stand in its place over the valley of Aijalon!” 13 And the sun and the moon didn’t move until the Israeli army had finished the destruction of its enemies! This is described in greater detail in The Book of Jashar. So the sun stopped in the heavens and stayed there for almost twenty-four hours! 14 There had never been such a day before, and there has never been another since, when the Lord stopped the sun and moon-all because of the prayer of one man. But the Lord was fighting for Israel. 15 (Afterwards Joshua and the Israeli army returned to Gilgal.)

MIND-BLOWING MIRACLES –

The creation of all things  – The bible is filled with so many narrations of miracle and supernatural phenomena that defy the law of physics .

These miracles are literally out of this world and most times hard to believe.

The great deluge – Gen 7:5-10(NLT)5 So Noah did everything as the Lord commanded him.6 Noah was 600 years old when the flood covered the earth. 7 He went on board the boat to escape the flood—he and his wife and his sons and their wives. 8 With them were all the various kinds of animals—those approved for eating and for sacrifice and those that were not—along with all the birds and the small animals that scurry along the ground. 9 They entered the boat in pairs, male and female, just as God had commanded Noah. 10 After seven days, the waters of the flood came and covered the earth. 11 When Noah was 600 years old, on the seventeenth day of the second month, all the underground waters erupted from the earth, and the rain fell in mighty torrents from the sky.

V17 For forty days the floodwaters grew deeper, covering the ground and lifting the boat high above the earth. 18 As the waters rose higher and higher above the ground, the boat floated safely on the surface. 19 Finally, the water covered even the highest mountains on the earth, 20 rising more than twenty-two feet above the highest peaks. 21 All the living things on earth died—birds, domestic animals, wild animals, small animals that scurry along the ground, and all the people. 22 Everything that breathed and lived on dry land died. 23 God wiped out every living thing on the earth—people, livestock, small animals that scurry along the ground, and the birds of the sky. All were destroyed. The only people who survived were Noah and those with him in the boat. 24 And the floodwaters covered the earth for 150 days.

Daniel and his friends saved from the furnace of fire – Dan 3:24-27(NLT)24 But suddenly, Nebuchadnezzar jumped up in amazement and exclaimed to his advisers, “Didn’t we tie up three men and throw them into the furnace?””Yes, Your Majesty, we certainly did,” they replied.25 “Look!” Nebuchadnezzar shouted. “I see four men, unbound, walking around in the fire unharmed! And the fourth looks like a god!”26 Then Nebuchadnezzar came as close as he could to the door of the flaming furnace and shouted: “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out! Come here!”So Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego stepped out of the fire. 27 Then the high officers, officials, governors, and advisers crowded around them and saw that the fire had not touched them. Not a hair on their heads was singed, and their clothing was not scorched. They didn’t even smell of smoke!

When Hezekiah spread the letter of threat before the Lord for help and God answered his prayer, this resulted to the destruction of 185,000 soldiers of the Assyrians which was among the greatest defeat in the kingdom history

2 Kings 19:35-36(NLT)35 That night the angel of the Lord went out to the Assyrian camp and killed 185,000 Assyrian soldiers. When the surviving Assyrians woke up the next morning, they found corpses everywhere.

The staff became a snake Exd 7:8

The staff began to bud Num 17:7-8(NLT)7 Moses placed the staffs in the Lord’s presence in the Tabernacle of the Covenant. 8 When he went into the Tabernacle of the Covenant the next day, he found that Aaron’s staff, representing the tribe of Levi, had sprouted, budded, blossomed, and produced ripe almonds!

Do you still wonder how your godly father and mother who had rotten in the grave will rise again and you will see him or her?

Do you wonder how the present heaven will pass away and we find ourselves in a new heaven and a new earth where there will be no sorrow or death any more?

Finally, do you wonder how God will heal your sickness now and make that need solved?
