CAPTIVITY OVERTURN | BRO. EMMA OKORIE | 20TH NOVEMBER, 2022

SUNDAY OUTLINE
(BRO. EMMA OKORIE) 20″ NOVEMBER, 2022
TOPIC: CAPTIVITY OVERTURN

Psalm 126 expresses the themes of redemption, joy and gratitude to God. It was likely written upon the return of the Israelites from Babylonia captivity It was with reference to some great and surprising deliverance of the people of God out f bondage and distress that this Psalm was penned.

You can’t imagine the joy that embraces the children of God when God delivers them. Ps 126:1-6 (KJV) When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said the among the heathen, The Lord hath don great things for them.3 The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.4 Turn again our captivity, O Lord, as the streams in the south.5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.6 He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

Are you engulfed with a long time trauma of sickness and bondage, this message is for you Ezek 21:27(KJV) 27 I will overturn, overturn, overturn, it: and it shall be no more, until h come whose right it is; and I will give it him.

Deliverance is a sure promise incorporated in God’s covenant of “Sozo” (total deliverance) Deut 30:3-7(TLB)3 then the Lord your God will rescue you from your captivity! He wil have mercy upon you and come and gather you out of all the nations where he will hav scattered you.

Isa 49:24-26(KJV) Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered?25 But thus saith the Lord, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.26 And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I the Lord am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.

I have a dream. I have a vision of what your present predicaments will turn to be. When God moves into your captivity or bondage, it will be like a dream unto you, because God moves in a mysterious ways and His wonder to perform.

Eccle 11:5(TLB) 5 God’s ways are as mysterious as the pathway of the wind and as the manner in which a human spirit is infused into the little body of a baby while it is yet in its mother’s womb.

Rom 11:33 (AMP) Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unfathomable (inscrutable, unsearchable) are His judgments (His decisions)! And how untraceable (mysterious, undiscoverable) are His ways (His methods, His paths)!

The power of God is mysterious, your many bondages are overturned in a minutes. With God it is a mysterious operation,

Ps 97:5(KJV) The hills melted like wax at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the Lord of the of the whole earth.

Many people experience captivity overturn. Liberation of Peter from the prison is one of them.

Who knows when the next batch of Angels will move on your behalf? Acts 16:25-36(NLT) Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening. 26 Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake. and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off! 27 The jailer woke up to see the prison doors wide open. He assumed the prisoners had escaped, so he drew his sword to kill himself. 28 But Paul shouted to him. “Stop! Don’t kill yourself! We are all here!”29 The jailer called for fights and ran to the dungeon and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. 30 Then he brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”31 They replied. “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.” 32 And they shared the word of the Lord with him and with all who lived in his household. 33 Even at that hour of the night, the jailer cared for them and washed their wounds. Then he and everyone in his household were immediately baptized. 34 He brought them into his house and set a meal before them, and he and his entire household rejoiced because they all believed in God.35 The next morning the city officials sent the police to tell the jailer, “Ler those men go!” 36 So the jailer told Paul. “The city officials have said you and Silay are free to leave. Go in peace.”

The Lord is a bondage breaker Are you in bondage of any kind, are you devastated do you want to be delivered from whatever burden you are carrying? 1 John 3:8b … For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”

The mission of Jesus is to break every yoke and to set the captive free – Isa 58:6 (KJV) 6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

→ Job became a captive of an unseen circumstance. He managed to hold his grounds by faith and power of the word.

His focus and faith began to wane when he was visited by his three friends who had diverse views about his circumstance. When he began to redirect his focus towards God and to answer the core question at hand, the power of God came down and his captivity was overturned

Job 42:10 (KJV) 10 And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.

God will overturn your captivity in the presence of your enemy.

Ps 23:5 (NIV) You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil: my cup overflows.

God promoted Joseph Gen 41:37-44 (NLT) 37 Joseph’s suggestions were well received by Pharaoh and his officials. 38 So Pharaoh asked his officials, “Can we find anyone else like this man so obviously filled with the spirit of God?” 39 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has revealed the meaning of the dreams to you, clearly no one else is as intelligent or wise as you are. 40 You will be in charge of my court, and all my people will take orders from you. Only I, sitting on my throne, will have a rank higher than yours.” 41 Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I hereby put you in charge of the entire land of Egypt.” 42 Then Pharaoh removed his signet ring from his hand and placed it on Joseph’s finger. He dressed him in fine linen clothing and hung a gold chain around his neck. 43 Then he had Joseph ride in the chariot reserved for his second-in-command. And wherever Joseph went. the command was shouted, “Kneel down!” So Pharaoh put Joseph in charge of all Egypt. 44 And Pharaoh said to him. “I am Pharaoh, but no one will lift a hand or foot in the entire land of Egypt without your approval.”

God promoted Mordecia Est 6:1- (NLT) That night the king had trouble sleeping, so he ordered an attendant to bring the book of the history of his reign so it could be read to him. 2 In those records he discovered an account of how Mordecai had exposed the plot of Bigthana and Teresh, two of the eunuchs who guarded the door to the king’s private quarters. They had plotted to assassinate King Xerxes.3 “What reward or recognition did we ever give Mordecai for this?” the king asked. His attendants replied, “Nothing has been done for him.”4 “Who is that in the outer court?” the king inquired. As it happened. Haman had just arrived in the outer court of the palace to ask the king to impale Mordecai on the pole he had prepared.5 So the attendants replied to the king, “Haman is out in the court.””Bring him in,” the king ordered. 6 So Haman came in, and the king said, “What should I do to honor a man who truly pleases me?” Haman thought to himself, “Whom would the king wish to honor more than me?” 7 So he replied. “If the king wishes to honor someone, 8 he should bring out one of the king’s own royal robes, as well as a horse that the king himself has ridden-one with a royal emblem on its head. 9 Let the robes and the horse be handed over to one of the king’s most noble officials. And let him see that the man whom the king wishes to honor is dressed in the king’s robes and led through the city square on the king’s horse. Have the official shout as they go. “This is what the king does for someone he wishes to honor!””(Read on)

“It doesn’t matter what you are going through now. You may be crippled; the Lord will cause a king to invite you to eat on his table”

2 Sam 9:1-8(NLT) One day David asked, “Is anyone in Saul’s family still alive-anyone to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?” 2 He summoned a man named Ziba, who had been one of Saul’s servants. “Are you Ziba?” the king asked. “Yes sir, I am.” Ziba replied.3 The king then asked him, “Is anyone still alive from Saul’s family? If so, I want to show God’s kindness to them.”Ziba replied, “Yes, one of Jonathan’s sons is still alive. He is crippled in both feet.”4 “Where is he?” the king asked. “In Lo-debar,” Ziba told him, “at the home of Makir son of Ammiel.” (Read On)

I can see everything turning around for your good. Hannah experienced it and sang a prophetic song

1 Sam 2:1-6(TLB)“How I rejoice in the Lord! How he has blessed me! Now I have an answer for my enemies, For the Lord has solved my problem. How I rejoice! 2 No one is as holy as the Lord! There is no other God, Nor any Rock like our God. 3 Quit acting so proud and arrogant! The Lord knows what you have done, And he will judge your deeds, 4 Those who were mighty are mighty no more! Those who were weak are now strong. 5 Those who were well are now starving; Those who were starving are fed. The barren woman now has seven children; She with many children has no more! 6 The Lord kills, The Lord gives life. 7 Some he causes to be poor And others to be rich. He cuts one down And lifts another up. 8 He lifts the poor from the dust- Yes, from a pile of ashes- And treats them as princes Sitting in the seats of honor. For all the earth is the Lord’s And he has set the world in order. (Read On)
