YOUR WORK IS YOUR WORSHIP; SUNDAY OUTLINE (BRO. EMMA OKORIE)  15TH JUNE, 2025

Topic: YOUR WORK IS YOUR WORSHIP

Your work represents your purpose, skill and strength.

For a Christian,  work is not merely a job – it is a spiritual devotion.

Your work is a calling from God,  and you are to pursue excellence  in it to please God who called you.

Your work is your honour and sacrifice to God

Work is a calling, it is not just a means of livelihood, but a  – purpose  you are mandated to fulfill.

This perspective  elevates work from being  mundane task to a  sacred activity.

It is what God  has placed in you  to serve and worship Him.

Ex 36:1-4(KJV)36 So Bezalel, Oholiab and every skilled person to whom the Lord has given skill and ability to know how to carry out all the work of constructing the sanctuary are to do the work just as the Lord has commanded.” 2 Then Moses summoned Bezalel and Oholiab and every skilled person to whom the Lord had given ability and who was willing to come and do the work. 3 They received from Moses all the offerings the Israelites had brought to carry out the work of constructing the sanctuary. And the people continued to bring freewill offerings morning after morning. 4 So all the skilled craftsmen who were doing all the work on the sanctuary left their work

To truly worship God, your work must be involved.

You cannot separate your work from your worship

The easiest way to worship God is  through your daily  works.

James 2:14-26( NLT)14 What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? 15 Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, 16 and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?17 So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.18 Now someone may argue, “Some people have faith; others have good deeds.” But I say, “How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.”19 You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. 20 How foolish! Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless?21 Don’t you remember that our ancestor Abraham was shown to be right with God by his actions when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You see, his faith and his actions worked together. His actions made his faith complete. 23 And so it happened just as the Scriptures say: “Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.” He was even called the friend of God. 24 So you see, we are shown to be right with God by what we do, not by faith alone.25 Rahab the prostitute is another example. She was shown to be right with God by her actions when she hid those messengers and sent them safely away by a different road. 26 Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works

Before  choosing a profession, ask: “Is God in this work?”

If God is a healer, then serve Him as a doctor.

See your career as a platform where God can work through you.

In your work as  worship,  work for God – It’s not about the  government or that boss that employed you.

Col 3:17(NIV)17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

V23-24  Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

Phil 2:13(NIV)13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.

Rev 4:11KJV11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

What is worship  – worship is not limited to songs or church services

“Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I, too, am working.”  (John 5:17NIV)

Change your attitude towards work.  You are working for God, not just for men.

The mindset of   “I have suffered much” becomes  joyful when your work is unto God.

When  your  work becomes your worship,  you will experience extraordinary anointing by the Holy Ghost.

Phil 4:13(KJV)13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Work is a legacy before God.

If your work isn’t your worship, why then do men of God refer to it when praying or  bargaining with God on your behalf.

Nehemiah said God remember  – , Neh 13:14 (NIV)Remember me for this, O my God, and do not blot out what I have so faithfully done for the house of my God and its services

2 Kings 20:1-6(NLT)About that time Hezekiah became deathly ill, and the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to visit him. He gave the king this message: “This is what the Lord says: Set your affairs in order, for you are going to die. You will not recover from this illness.”2 When Hezekiah heard this, he turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, 3 “Remember, O Lord, how I have always been faithful to you and have served you single-mindedly, always doing what pleases you.” Then he broke down and wept bitterly. 4 But before Isaiah had left the middle courtyard, this message came to him from the Lord: 5 “Go back to Hezekiah, the leader of my people. Tell him, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your ancestor David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. I will heal you, and three days from now you will get out of bed and go to the Temple of the Lord. 6 I will add fifteen years to your life, and I will rescue you and this city from the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for my own honor and for the sake of my servant David.

Good deeds comes along with generational blessings – 2 Sam 9:3-7(NLT)3 The king then asked him, “Is anyone still alive from Saul’s family? If so, I want to show God’s kindness to them.”Ziba replied, “Yes, one of Jonathan’s sons is still alive. He is crippled in both feet.”4 “Where is he?” the king asked.”In Lo-debar,” Ziba told him, “at the home of Makir son of Ammiel.”5 So David sent for him and brought him from Makir’s home. 6 His name was Mephibosheth; he was Jonathan’s son and Saul’s grandson. When he came to David, he bowed low to the ground in deep respect. David said, “Greetings, Mephibosheth.”Mephibosheth replied, “I am your servant.”7 “Don’t be afraid!” David said. “I intend to show kindness to you because of my promise to your father, Jonathan. I will give you all the property that once belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will eat here with me at the king’s table!

Heb 6:10-11(NLT)10 For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do.

Rev 14:13(NLT)13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write this down: Blessed are those who die in the Lord from now on. Yes, says the Spirit, they are blessed indeed, for they will rest from their hard work; for their good deeds follow them!
