HE CAST OUT DEVILS WITH SIMPLE COMMAND: SUNDAY OUTLINE  (BRO. EMMA OKORIE)              5TH MAY, 2024

TOPIC: HE CAST OUT DEVILS WITH SIMPLE COMMAND

In the school of the supernatural operation, Jesus made it simple to heal the sick.

He gave a command,  spoke to  sickness with supernatural insight.

And addressed demons in charge of deafness, of blindness and healed them all

He uses authority stemming from faith.

Every believer possesses believers’ authority.

Pray and dedicate yourself to God and acquire a simple commanding power- Matt 8:16-17(NLT)16 That evening many demon-possessed people were brought to Jesus. He cast out the evil spirits with a simple command, and he healed all the sick. 17 This fulfilled the word of the Lord through the prophet Isaiah, who said, “He took our sicknesses and removed our diseases.”

To acquire commanding power  displayed before the public, at an encounter, follow Jesus’ example and do this:

1. He went to the solitary place and prayed.

Luke 5:16(NLT) But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer.

Luke 4:42-43(NLT)42 Early the next morning Jesus went out to an isolated place. The crowds searched everywhere for him, and when they finally found him, they begged him not to leave them.

Luke 6:12-13(NLT)12 One day soon afterward Jesus went up on a mountain to pray, and he prayed to God all night.

2. He uses vision – John 5:17-23(NIV)17 Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I, too, am working.”  19 Jesus gave them this answer: “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. 20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, to your amazement he will show him even greater things than these. 21 For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it.

How did Jesus heal the sick? Action oriented.

Mark 5:41-43(NLT)41 Holding her hand, he said to her, “Talitha koum,” which means “Little girl, get up!” 42 And the girl, who was twelve years old, immediately stood up and walked around! They were overwhelmed and totally amazed. 43 Jesus gave them strict orders not to tell anyone what had happened, and then he told them to give her something to eat.

The power we use in the Name of Jesus is as much potent as the power  Jesus used.  He often declares healing.

John 4:47-50 (NIV)47 When this man heard that Jesus had arrived in Galilee from Judea, he went to him and begged him to come and heal his son, who was close to death. 48 “Unless you people see miraculous signs and wonders,” Jesus told him, “you will never believe.” 49 The royal official said, “Sir, come down before my child dies.” 50 Jesus replied, “You may go. Your son will live.”

He uses faith-triggering  operations, such as senseless operation of the spirit

John 9:1-11(NLT)As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man who had been blind from birth. 2 “Rabbi,” his disciples asked him, “why was this man born blind? Was it because of his own sins or his parents’ sins?”3 “It was not because of his sins or his parents’ sins,” Jesus answered. “This happened so the power of God could be seen in him. 4 We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can work. 5 But while I am here in the world, I am the light of the world.” 6 Then he spit on the ground, made mud with the saliva, and spread the mud over the blind man’s eyes. 7 He told him, “Go wash yourself in the pool of Siloam” (Siloam means “sent”). So the man went and washed and came back seeing!8 His neighbors and others who knew him as a blind beggar asked each other, “Isn’t this the man who used to sit and beg?” 9 Some said he was, and others said, “No, he just looks like him!”But the beggar kept saying, “Yes, I am the same one!” 10 They asked, “Who healed you? What happened?”11 He told them, “The man they call Jesus made mud and spread it over my eyes and told me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam and wash yourself.’ So I went and washed, and now I can see!”

The miracles of Jesus are the only reason for their argument (How did this miracle happen?)

Whether it is blindness, deafness, lameness, cleansing  leprosy, they are all subject  faith works.

Mark 7:33-35(NLT)33 Jesus led him away from the crowd so they could be alone. He put his fingers into the man’s ears. Then, spitting on his own fingers, he touched the man’s tongue. 34 Looking up to heaven, he sighed and said, “Ephphatha,” which means, “Be opened!” 35 Instantly the man could hear perfectly, and his tongue was freed so he could speak plainly!

Let us forget about ourselves,  our natural wisdom, and intelligence for this moment, and fall into the hands of  senseless wisdom in God.

Luke 17:11-16(TLP)11 As they continued onward toward Jerusalem, they reached the border between Galilee and Samaria, 12 and as they entered a village there, ten lepers stood at a distance, 13 crying out, “Jesus, sir, have mercy on us!” 14 He looked at them and said, “Go to the Jewish priest and show him that you are healed!” And as they were going, their leprosy disappeared. 15 One of them came back to Jesus, shouting, “Glory to God, I’m healed!” 16 He fell flat on the ground in front of Jesus, face downward in the dust, thanking him for what he had done. This man was a despised Samaritan.

The power of faith and prayer before public healing – John 5:8-9(NLT)8 Jesus told him, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!” 9 Instantly, the man was healed! He rolled up his sleeping mat and began walking!

Just a touch from Him.

Matt 8:14-15(NLT)14 When Jesus arrived at Peter’s house, Peter’s mother-in-law was sick in bed with a high fever. 15 But when Jesus touched her hand, the fever left her. Then she got up and prepared a meal for him.

The power of God is always present to heal – Mark 1:40-43(NLT)40 A man with leprosy came and knelt in front of Jesus, begging to be healed. “If you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean,” he said.41 Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” 42 Instantly the leprosy disappeared, and the man was healed.

Mark 9:25 (NLT)25 When Jesus saw that the crowd of onlookers was growing, he rebuked the evil spirit. “Listen, you spirit that makes this boy unable to hear and speak,” he said. “I command you to come out of this child and never enter him again!”

How did this instant power of Jesus extend to other Apostles, Prophets, Evangelist, believers?   Because we often say it is Jesus, that’s why at the slightest command, a miracle happens.

Acts 3:1-7 (TLB)Peter and John went to the Temple one afternoon to take part in the three o’clock daily prayer meeting. 2 As they approached the Temple, they saw a man lame from birth carried along the street and laid beside the Temple gate-the one called The Beautiful Gate-as was his custom every day. 3 As Peter and John were passing by, he asked them for some money. 4 They looked at him intently, and then Peter said, “Look here!” 5 The lame man looked at them eagerly, expecting a gift. 6 But Peter said, “We don’t have any money for you! But I’ll give you something else! I command you in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk! ” 7-8 Then Peter took the lame man by the hand and pulled him to his feet. And as he did, the man’s feet and ankle-bones were healed and strengthened so that he came up with a leap, stood there a moment and began walking! Then, walking, leaping, and praising God, he went into the Temple with them.

Acts 9:32-35(NLT)32 Meanwhile, Peter traveled from place to place, and he came down to visit the believers in the town of Lydda. 33 There he met a man named Aeneas, who had been paralyzed and bedridden for eight years. 34 Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you! Get up, and roll up your sleeping mat!” And he was healed instantly. 35 Then the whole population of Lydda and Sharon saw Aeneas walking around, and they turned to the Lord.

Acts 14:8-10TLB)8 While they were at Lystra, they came upon a man with crippled feet who had been that way from birth, so he had never walked. 9 He was listening as Paul preached, and Paul noticed him and realized he had faith to be healed. 10 So Paul called to him, “Stand up!” and the man leaped to his feet and started walking!
