OUR DIVINE HELPER :SUNDAY OUTLINE   (BRO. EMMA OKORIE) 17TH SEPTEMBER, 2023

TOPIC:  OUR DIVINE HELPER

The revelation of God, especially as a man of God and a man of prayer is “God is our Divine Helper”

A very present help in time of trouble  – Ps 46:1-5(KJV) God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.4 There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. 5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early

Whom do you look up to for help? Ps 121:1-4(NIV)121 I lift up my eyes to the hills — where does my help come from? 2 My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. 3 He will not let your foot slip — he who watches over you will not slumber; 4 indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

He will not abandon you – Deut 31:8(KJV)8 And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.

When the enemy rises against you, the Lord will help you – Ps 3:1-4(NKJV)3 Lord, how they have increased who trouble me! Many are they who rise up against me. 2 Many are they who say of me, “There is no help for him in God.” 3 But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head.  4 I cried to the Lord with my voice, And He heard me from His holy hill

What can you do in this tumultuous trouble without the help of God.  124:1-8 (KJV)If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, now may Israel say; 2 If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us: 3 Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us: 4 Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul: 5 Then the proud waters had gone over our soul. 6 Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.7 Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped. 8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

It doesn’t matter how strong and wealthy you are, you need the help of God. –  Ps 27:1-3(NKJV)27 The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?  2 When the wicked came against me To eat up my flesh, My enemies and foes, They stumbled and fell. 3 Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; Though war may rise against me, In this I will be confident.

The Lord is a deliverer and has offered himself to help – Ps 50:15(KJV)15 And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

The revelation of God is powerful, because you know him – Ps 91:14-16(KJV)14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

God has helped you before and he will help you again – Ps 63:6-7(NLT)6 I lie awake thinking of you, meditating on you through the night. 7 Because you are my helper, I sing for joy in the shadow of your wings.

Divine helper for men on  divine assignment – Josh 10:12-14(NLT)12 On the day the Lord gave the Israelites victory over the Amorites, Joshua prayed to the Lord in front of all the people of Israel. He said, “Let the sun stand still over Gibeon, and the moon over the valley of Aijalon.” 13 So the sun stood still and the moon stayed in place until the nation of Israel had defeated its enemies. Is this event not recorded in The Book of Jashar? The sun stayed in the middle of the sky, and it did not set as on a normal day. 14 There has never been a day like this one before or since, when the Lord answered such a prayer. Surely the Lord fought for Israel that day!

We don’t know how to pray, the Holy Spirit is our helper –  Rom 8:26-28 (NLT)26 And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. 27 And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.

Everyone God helped acknowledges it.  He knows that his present status was orchestrated by God’s help – Gen 32:10-11(KJV)10 I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto thy servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two bands.11 Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: for I fear him, lest he will come and smite me, and the mother with the children.

You  have right to call on God to help you.

Ps 18:3-6(KJV)3 I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.4 The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid. 5 The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.6 In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.

This is a cry of one who knows God personally. Ps 77:1-3(KJV)77 I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me.2 In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted.

Ps 61:1-2(KJV)61 Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. 2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

Whatever it takes, God will help you. Deut 33:26(KJV)26 There is none like unto the God of Jeshurun, who rideth upon the heaven in thy help, and in his excellency on the sky.

Ps 37:39-40 (NLT)39 The Lord rescues the godly; he is their fortress in times of trouble. 40 The Lord helps them, rescuing them from the wicked. He saves them, and they find shelter in him.

I minister to you that you experience the strength of God’s help today.  Don’t be discouraged, no matter what – Ps 60:11-12(NLT)11 Oh, please help us against our enemies, for all human help is useless. 12 With God’s help we will do mighty things, for he will trample down our foes.

Ps 115:9-11 (NLT)9 O Israel, trust the Lord! He is your helper and your shield. 10 O priests, descendants of Aaron, trust the Lord! He is your helper and your shield. 11 All you who fear the Lord, trust the Lord! He is your helper and your shield.

The help of God is sure.

Heb 13:5-8 (MSG)5 Don’t be obsessed with getting more material things. Be relaxed with what you have. Since God assured us, “I’ll never let you down, never walk off and leave you,” 6 we can boldly quote,God is there, ready to help; I’m fearless no matter what. Who or what can get to me? 7 Appreciate your pastoral leaders who gave you the Word of God. Take a good look at the way they live, and let their faithfulness instruct you, as well as their truthfulness. There should be a consistency that runs through us all. 8 For Jesus doesn’t change — yesterday, today, tomorrow, he’s always totally himself.

Heb 6:13-18(MSG)13 When God made his promise to Abraham, he backed it to the hilt, putting his own reputation on the line. 14 He said, “I promise that I’ll bless you with everything I have — bless and bless and bless!” 15 Abraham stuck it out and got everything that had been promised to him. 16 When people make promises, they guarantee them by appeal to some authority above them so that if there is any question that they’ll make good on the promise, the authority will back them up. 17 When God wanted to guarantee his promises, he gave his word, a rock-solid guarantee —   18 God can’t break his word. And because his word cannot change, the promise is likewise unchangeable.

Num 23:19(MSG)19 God is not man, one given to lies, and not a son of man changing his mind. Does he speak and not do what he says? Does he promise and not come through?

Job 42:1-2(MSG)Job answered God: 2 “I’m convinced: You can do anything and everything. Nothing and no one can upset your plans.
